Silence Speech Pizza Sound

The deformation and transformation of language with references to history, subjective memory, perception and understanding have been visually explored through a narrative of interlinked sometimes paradoxical visual image partnerships. The transparency and layers of consciousness are evident through a referenced understanding of notions of time, place, transience and impermanence. Taking the word silence and pizza flour as the starting point, the imagery tells the story of this journey and exploration. Two different island and national cultures linked historically through language, omertà and pizza but very different in its acceptance and understanding of key words such as speech, silence and sound. To make things more interesting we can also say that silence is also a paradox. In fact there is no such thing as pure silence. Calm or quite might be a more apt word to use and this is reflected in the interventions and imagery.
